October 15: COVID-19 Measures From Monday

Regional Travel

NSW is expected to reach 80% full vaccination of people over 16 over the weekend, and previous plans had included travel between Greater Sydney and regional NSW.  Premier Perrottet has extended the date for travel until November 1st.  This is to enable regional communities whose access to vaccines began later than Sydney, to achieve 70% vaccination.

Vaccine Certificate in Service NSW app

If your ride this weekend includes a meal, the good news is that you are now able to integrate your COVID-19 vaccine certificate with the Service NSW check in app.  If you don’t use a smartphone, printed certificates are still fine.

The commitment to opening up in NSW on November 1st also includes international travel.  Fully vaccinated people will not need to quarantine, so this will make it easier for everyone waiting to plan bike tours overseas.

We expect amendments to the health orders and rules to be published on Monday, but no change has been announced to the lifting of community sport restrictions today.

“We know some members will have the bike packed and ready to travel as soon as restrictions lift,” said Bicycle NSW General Manager of Public Affairs, Bastien Wallace.

“This delay may frustrate some, but we look forward to travelling to new rides and to see family across NSW soon,” said Bastien.

We will update with specifics on Monday, and look forward to planning rides for the remainder of 2021.
